About Us
Our Chapter’s journey was realized by Sandy Brown in 1995 when she decided to be a representative of PFLAG.
Then in 1997, a young gay man from Door County reached out to Sandy because he was contemplating suicide. That young gay man was not alone. As a result, we decided to form a chapter and meet monthly.
That moment in our Chapter’s chartered past was celebrated with the entire nation because PFLAG Door County held our first event on the evening Ellen DeGeneres came out on television.
Through it all, the journey continues. Everyone is welcome to join us on our journey as we continue to build common unity while sharing with each other who we are who we celebrate becoming together as PFLAG Door County. Join Us Today!
PFLAG of Sturgeon Bay – Door County is a 501-C-3 non-profit organization and an official chapter of PFLAG national since 1997.
What We Do
Provide Support – Door County PFLAG offers society a safe place to be a part of supportive group discussions, (using zoom) for those in the LGBTQIA, Non-Binary Communities, their Allies and loved ones. We also provide periodic programs on topics of cultural interest and Special Events throughout the year.
Offer Education – Door County PFLAG provides many education topics relevant to each time of year, We network with an expanding list of resources made available on our Website to anyone in need. PFLAG Door County provides informational materials upon request to all in need. We support those who need safe spaces in school systems throughout our area routinely.
Advocate – Door County PFLAG partners with other Local, State, and National organizations to educate decision-makers on LGBTQIA, Non-Binary issues, and to teach future Allies how to utilize their voices to enhance our efforts for, a more Equal, a more Just, and a more Loving World!
